Samsung signs patent sharing deal with Microsoft

World-s second biggest mobile phone maker South Korea based Samsung Electronics Co has signed a patent sharing deal with software giant Microsoft. After this deal, Samsung will work with Microsoft to develop smart phones and tablets based on Microsoft's Windows software. Samsung is the biggest Android mobile operating system user in the world. This deal will help them to use Windows mobile OS as well to reduce its dependency on Android.

This deal is a setback to Google as Google is still fighting with Microsoft and Apple over Android-s design patents. Microsoft claims that some of the Android designs belong to them. After this deal Samsung recognizes Microsoft-s claim and it will also be able to avoid any patent related conflict for Android if arises in future. Because of this recognition, Samsung will pay royalties for android operating system used in their smart phones and tablets.
