India's overall inflation increased to - 0.73 percent in December Deflationary trend

India's overall inflation, measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), increased to (-) 0.73% in December compared to (-) 1.99% in November due to higher food prices. Overall Inflation stood at (-) 0.5% in December 2015.

Food articles inflation increased to 8.17% in December compared to 5.2% in November due to higher prices of pulses and onions which stood at 55.64% and 25.98% higher in the same month. Inflation in Fuel and Power segment stood at 9.15% in the same month which inflation for manufactured products stood at 3.81%.
