Few More News Headlines – 28 September, 2011

1. Kolkata High Court has ruled in favor of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the Singur land return case. It has also said that the Government’s step to return farm land to the farmers who wants to get back their land is constitutional and given go ahead to the Government for the same. It has also asked the collector to find a suitable compensation package for the farmers.

2. Former aide of BJP leader L K Advani, Sudheendra Kulkarni has been sent to Tihar jail in the cash-for-vote scam after a special court rejected his bail plea.

3. The Portugal High Court has revoked the extradition of Abu Salem who is one of the main accused in the 1993 Mumbai blast case. Salem will be in India as India will appeal against the order in the higher court.

4. Global Tech giant and iPhone maker Apple has set the launch date of its latest smart phone iPhone 5 as 4th October.
