1. The US economy grew by 1.2% annually in the second quarter of the current year, this is much slower pace than expected growth rate of 2.6%. This is in spite of consumer spending increased annually by 4.2% in the same quarter which is the fastest pace since the fourth quarter of 2014.

2. American author James Alan McPherson has passed away in Iowa City, U.S. He was 72. He was the first black author to receive the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1978.

3. Germany football team captain Bastian Schweinsteiger his retirement from international duty with immediate effect this week. The 31-year-old Manchester United midfielder, who won his 120th and final cap in Germany's 0-2 defeat to France in the semifinals of Euro 2016, announced the news on his official Twitter account.
