1. All the 193 members of the UN General Assembly have elected Sweden, Bolivia, Ethiopia, and Kazakhstan to serve on the UN Security Council (UNSC) for a period of two years from 1st January, 2017. They will replace Spain, Malaysia, New Zealand, Angola and Venezuela.

2. Rodrigo Duterte was sworn in as the 16th president of the Philippines after winning election held in May. Maria Leonor Robredo was sworn in as Vice President.

3. World's largest food company Nestle, has appointed Ulf Mark Schneider as its CEO with effective from 1st September 2016. He will succeed Paul Bulcke.

4. Japanese auto giant Suzuki Motor Corp has appointed Toshihiro Suzuki, son of Chairman Osamu Suzuki, as its new CEO.
