1. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton secured the Democratic Party's 2016 nomination for the Presidential election to be held in November this year. With this, she also became the first woman to head the ticket of a major party in US history.


2. Former French Foreign Minister Michel Barnier has been appointed to lead the European Union's negotiations with Britain over Brexit. Recently UK voted in favor of Brexit which will see United Kingdom leaving European Union.


3. The UK economy grew by 0.6% in the three months to the end of June compared to previous quarter, when the country voted to leave the EU. This is much better than 0.4% growth in the previous quarter.


4. Sri Lankan Spinner Muttaiah Muralitharan will be the first Sri Lankan to be included in the ICC's Hall of Fame. Australia's Arthur Morris and Karen Rolton along with England-s George Lohmann are the other three players who were also chosen for the same.
