1. The US economy grew by an annualized rate of 3.7% in the April-June quarter of the current year which was much better than earlier estimation of 2.3%. The better growth was due to better corporate investment in the same quarter. With this higher growth, Fed may increase rates which has been kept at historically low level since financial crisis in 2008-09.

2. World tennis champion and No1 player Novak Djokovic became a new goodwill ambassador for the UN Fund for Children. With this he joins the list of famous athletes and celebrities to hold the post. He has already worked to help vulnerable children through his role as UNICEF Serbia ambassador and his Novak Djokovic Foundation.

3. South African Skipper AB de Villiers has broken former India captain Sourav Ganguly's record of being the fastest to reach 8,000 runs in One Day International Cricket. He took 182 innings to reach 8,000 ODI runs, 18 innings quicker than Ganguly and 28 innings quicker than Sachin Tendulkar.
