1. Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and he was administered the oath of office by President Maithripala Sirisena. He had earlier served as Prime Minister of Sri Lanka three times in the past, from 1993 to 94, from 2002 to 2004 and now since January 2015.


2. For the first time, women in Saudi Arabia will able to vote and run for office at the Municipal Elections that are scheduled to be held in December 2015. As per report, around 70% are looking to run as candidates while around 80 women candidates have registered as campaign managers. This change in rule was approved in 2011 by late Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud and expected to be implemented in the 2015 election.
