Current Affairs International - 2-3 May 2016

1. The World Press Freedom Day was observed on 3rd May across the world to raise awareness about Press and bring focus on the freedom of information, protecting journalism from censorship, and ensuring safety for journalists. The theme of 2016 was -Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms - This Is Your Right!- The day proclaimed by the United Nations in 1993.

2. Global Tech Giant Google has acquired a business technology start-up 'Synergyse' founded by an Indian-origin entrepreneur in order to improve its training offerings for Google Apps to its customers and customers' users. The Toronto-based company is founded by Varun Malhotra in the year 2013 which aims to teach users how to use Google Apps. 

3. Leicester City won the English Premier League for the first time in the club's 132 year history after nearest challengers Tottenham Hotspur could only manage a 2-2 draw with Chelsea yesterday. With this, Leicester City emerged as the winner with 7 points lead compared to Tottenham.

Leicester City striker forward Jamie Vardy was named 2015-16 Footballer of the Year by the Football Writers Association (FWA). He will be honoured with the prestigious FWA accolade at a gala dinner in London on 12th May 2016.

4. German driver Nico Rosberg of Mercedes team won the Russian Grand Prix held this weekend which was his fourth win in a row this season. British driver Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen finished second and third place in the same race respectively.
