1. World Science Day for Peace and Development, also known as the World Science Day, was observed today (10th November) across the world. The theme for 2015 is -Science for a Sustainable Future-.

Established by UNESCO in 2001, World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated worldwide on 10 November each year. It offers an opportunity to demonstrate to the wider public why science is relevant to their daily lives and to engage them in debate on related issues.

2. Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's political party National League for Democracy (NLD) won the election held in Myanmar and secure parliamentary majority. This is the first time, election was held properly in Myanmar after nearly 3 decades.

Earlier military-backed Union Solidarity Development Party (USDP) has been in power in Myanmar since 2011 when the country started its transition from military rule to a civilian government.
