1. India has been ranked at the lowest position among 16 Asia Pacific countries in terms of the socio-economic standing of women, as per Mastercard-s latest Index of Women-s Advancement. India was ranked even at a lower position compared to its neighbors Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.


Across the region, New Zealand had the highest overall Index score of 77, followed by Australia (76), the Philippines (72.6) and Singapore (70.5) while India (44.2), Bangladesh (44.6) and Sri Lanka (46.2) had scores below 50.2


2. Time Magazine has ranked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi among the list of 30 most influential people on the internet. As per Time magazine, he has around 38 million followers on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.


3. The RBI eased the norms for home loans for up to Rs 10 lakh by allowing banks to include stamp duty and registration charges to the cost of a unit. These changes are around 15% of the cost of the house and as per the current practice, banks do not include stamp duty, registration and other documentation charges in the cost of housing property. RBI-s this decision will help lots of middle class home buyers.


4. Walmart India has appointed Ashwin Mittal as the new Chief Financial Officer and Javier Rojo as head of Real Estate and Business Development. Ashwin Mittal will replace Jill Anderson, currently the CFO of Walmart India. Javier will lead the Real Estate and Business Development and will be responsible for Design & Construction, Real Estate and Store Planning.


5. India-s foreign exchange (forex) reserves jumped by USD 3.886 billion to all time high USD 338.079 billion in the week ended 27thFebruary, as per weekly report published by the RBI.


The jump was mainly due to increase in foreign currency assets which was increased by USD 3.902 billion to USD 312.2 billion in the same week. However Special Drawing Rights and India-s reserve position in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were also decreased by USD 11.4 million and USD 4.6 million in the same week. Gold Reserves remained unchanged at USD 20.183 billion in the same week.


6. Indian badminton player Saina Nehwal reached the final of the prestigious All England Badminton Championship today after defeating Sun Yu of China by 21-13, 21-13 in the semifinal match. With this, she scripted history by becoming the first Indian woman to achieve the feat. The World No. 3 Indian reached the semifinals of the event in 2010 and 2013. Earlier Indian legends Prakash Padukone and P Gopichand won the prestigious title in the past.
