1. UPA candidate Hamid Ansari has been re-elected as the Vice President for the second term. He has defeated NDA nominee Jaswant Singh by a large margin of 252 votes. Hamid Ansari has got 490 votes against 238 votes by Jaswant Singh.

2. CRISIL Research has lowered India-s real GDP growth forecast for current financial year 2012-13 to 5.5% from earlier projection of 6.5%. Deficient Monsoon and worsening euro zone debt crisis are the main reasons behind this lower GDP growth projection.
