1. Hyderabad has been ranked as the top Indian city in the quality of living ranking, as per the Mercer-s Quality of Living Report 2015 published today. Hyderabad has been ranked at 138 globally with Pune holding the second position among Indian cities at 145th. Mumbai and New Delhi ranked at 152 and 154 respectively in the same list.

Mercer-s Quality of Living Report 2015 highlights that Indian cities haven-t made much progress on the quality of living scale compared to last year. Over time, Hyderabad has emerged as a city of choice due to factors such as improved options for international schools and a fine choice of reputable English speaking schools.

2. World-s largest and tallest Indian national flag was unfurled at Town Park in Faridabad in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah, Haryana CM ML Khattar and Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor. The flag has dimension of 96 feet by 64 feet and weighs 48 kilograms. Flag was hoisted at the height of 250 feet which makes it the world-s largest and the highest hoisted Indian flag in the world.

3. Maharashtra government has scrapped the 5% reservation for Muslims in government jobs today which was given by earlier NCP-Congress government in July 2014 just before the assembly election.

The reservation was given to, two separate categories the namely the Educationally and Socially Backward Category (ESBC) for Marathas as well as a Special Backward Class (Muslims) segment for the Muslims.

4. Union Minister Raosaheb Dadarao Danve, who held the portfolio of Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution , resigned from the Council of Ministers over the principle of -one-man, one-post-. Earlier he was made Maharasthra BJP president after former BJP President of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was made as Chief Minister of the state. As per the new -one-man, one-post-, every leader can hold only one post within the party and government.

5. IAS officer Kewal K Sharma has been appointed as Chief Secretary of Delhi and his appointment was approved by Union Home Ministry. Currently he is the chief secretary of Goa and appointed as the Goa chief secretary on 1st January this year. He had earlier served in the United Nations (UN) Mission in Kosovo from 1999 to 2005 as a Civil Affairs Officer.

6. Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji was awarded with the National Award for the Best Representation of the Cause of Safety, Security and Protection of Women and Girl Child by National Institute of Gender Justice (NIGJ). With this she has become the first ever film personality to be awarded with this prestigious award. She was awarded for creating awareness about child trafficking in New Delhi.

7. Indian-American physician Rahul Jindal was selected for the prestigious Fulbright-Nehru Distinguished Chair. The Ahmedabad-based HL Trivedi Institute of Transplantation Sciences will host Rahul Jindal for the duration of the chair. The Institute performs about 400 kidney transplants in a year and has developed innovative transplant tolerance models.

8. Global credit rating Moody's has said today that RBI-s new Inflation targeting mechanism is a "credit positive" move for India and it is expected to make RBI's monetary policy tools much more effective. Under the new Inflation targeting mechanism, the government has mandated RBI to bring down inflation to below 6% by January 2016 and then target a level of 4% by March next year. This will also be a major boost to India-s credit outlook.
