1. West Bengal and Bihar Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi took additional charge of Mizoram and he was sworn in as 16th Governor of Mizoram.  He was given additional charge of Mizoram after Union Government had sacked former Governor Aziz Qureshi.

2. Malli Mastan Babu, an IIMC alumnus and one of the top mountaineers of the country has been found dead in the Andes Mountains between Argentina and Chile by the searching team after he went on a climb up the high Andes Mountains between Argentina and Chile and went missing 2 weeks back.

He was the fastest mountaineer to climb summits in all seven continents. In 2006, he had scaled seven summits of the world in 172 days.

3. A minor planet, which was discovered back in 1988, was named after Indian Chess grandmaster, Viswanathan Anand. The planed is now known as Vishyanand, was previously identified as planet 4538.

With this, He joins former world chess champions Alexander Alekhine and Anatoly Karpov who aloso have minor planets named after them.

4. India-s foreign exchange (forex) reserves jumped by USD 1.386 billion to all time high USD 341.378 billion in the week ended 27thMarch, as per weekly report published by the RBI.

The jump was mainly due to increase in foreign currency assets which was increased by USD 1.351 billion to USD 316.238 billion in the same week.  Special Drawing Rights and International Monetary Fund (IMF) were also increased by USD 26.2 million and USD 8.5 million respectively in the same week. Gold Reserves remained unchanged at USD 19.837 billion in the same week.

5. Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal bowed out of the Malaysia Open badminton championship after her close defeat in the semifinal match against top-seeded China-s Li Xuerui. She lost to her by 21-13 17-21 20-22 in a closely fought semifinal match. With this defeat, she will also lose No 1 rank in the Women-s badminton world ranking.
