1. The Supreme Court formed a panel headed by former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha, to provide views to upgrade the functions of the Medical Council of India and possible reform. The three-member panel which also comprises former CAG Vinod Rai and Dr SK Sareen, will monitor the functioning of the medical regulator as well.


2. Indian Information Service (IIS) officer Bhupendra Kainthola has been appointed as the new Director of Pune-based Film & Television Institute of India (FTII) for a tenure of three years. He replaced Prashant Pathrabe who retired recently.


3. Future Group CEO Kishore Biyani has been appointed as the MD of Bharti Retail after Future group acquired Bharti Retail in May last year. Post-merger, the combined entity will be renamed as Future Retail Ltd which will be the biggest supermarket chains with Rs.15,000 crore turnover.


4. Sameer Chadha has been appointed as the partner and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of KPMG's India operation. He joined KPMG Global Services (KGS) from Barclays Shared Services, where he was the Chief Executive Officer.
