1. India has launched a relief and rescue Operation named -Maitri- in earthquake hit Nepal for relief and rescue operation. The operation will consist of more than two dozen military aircraft and choppers along with bus services through road route.

India also sent nearly 1000 trained personnel of the National Disaster Response Force in Nepal immediately after it was struck by the worst earthquake in 80 years in which nearly 3000 people are feared to be killed.

2. The French Government honoured former Union Finance Minister and BJP leader Yashwant Sinha the Officier de la Légion d'Honneur (Officer of the Legion of Honour) in recognition of his valuable contribution to thought on international issues. This is the highest French civilian distinction was presented by the French Ambassador François Richier on behalf of the President of the French Republic

3. Bharatiya Mahila Bank (BMB) Ltd was awarded with the Asian Banker Achievement Award 2015 for Technology Implementation in the category of Best Outsourcing Project (New Bank). The award was received by Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BMB, Usha Ananthasubramanian, at a function held in Hong Kong during the Asian Banker Summit 2015.

4. Gopinath Pillai, an Indian-origin diplomat was awarded with the Outstanding Service Award for his services in Singapore by the National University of Singapore (NUS). Currently he is working as Ambassador-at-Large of Singapore and special envoy to Andhra Pradesh.

5. Sangeeta Bhatia, an Indian origin scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), was awarded with the prestigious 2015 Heinz Award in the Technology, the Economy, and Employment category.

6. India-born Raja Rajeswari was sworn-in as a criminal court judge in New York by Mayor Bill de Blasio. With this, she became the first India-born woman to be appointed a judge in New York City. She had previously worked with the Richmond County District Attorney-s Office for her entire career in several bureaus including Criminal Court, Narcotics, Supreme Court, and the Sex Crimes Special Victims Bureau, where she last served as Deputy Chief.

7. India won the 22nd President's Cup Boxing Tournament being held at Palembang, Indonesia for the first time. Indian team logged 33 points to finish ahead of second-placed Mongolia in the tournament. Rakesh Kumar won gold in 69 kg weight class and Harpal Singh won gold in 75kg category to give India the winning position.
