1. India-s National Disaster Response Force(NDRF) has partnered with about 30 Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) to jointly tackle and mitigate man-made or natural disasters or emergencies. A coordination meeting was held between NDRF and prominent PSUs including ONGC, Air India, GAILand others involved in the mining and shipping and heavy industries sector.

2. Indian private bank Yes Bank became the first to begin operations from its IFSC banking unit (IBU) at the Gujarat International Finance Tec City (GIFT).This will bolster growth by giving it access to international financial markets, besides providing a comprehensive product suite to its corporate clients requiring foreign currency funding. 

3. Smartphone maker BlackBerry has appointed Narendra Nayak as the Managing Director of its India operations. He replaces Sunil Lalvani who raised in June this year. As new MD, He will be responsible for driving BlackBerry's software and services business through all channels in India.

4. Bengali film, television and stage actor Pijush Ganguly passed away in Kolkata after meeting an accident at Santragachi near Howrah on 20th October. He was 50. He had started his career as an employee of NABARD and later shifted to acting career. He had acted in famous films like Goynar Baksha, Byomkesh Phire Elo,Laptop, Iti Srikanta and Mahulbanir Sereng.

5. Indian archer Abhishek Verma created history by winning a silver medal in the Archery World Cup currently being held in Mexico City, first ever Indian to bag Archery World Cup Final medal. He was defeated Turkey's Demir Elmaagcli in the summit clash (143-145).

Another Indian archer Deepika Kumari won the silver medal in the Archery World Cup Final held in Mexico City. She was defeated 2-6 in final by South Korea-s Chou Misun.
