1. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India amended the mobile number portability (MNP) regulations this week to allow users to change their service provider in any part of the country while retaining the number. That facility will be effective from 3rd May this year. Currently, number portability can be done only within a telecom circle.

2. Clemson University has honoured former Tata group Mr. Ratan Tata with the Doctorate of Automotive Engineering at the South Carolina Automotive Summit held in Washington recently. Dean of Clemson's College of Engineering and Science Anand Gramopadhye said Ratan Tata not only is a titan in the automotive industry in India, but he also is a giant in the global marketplace.

3. Ahead of the Union Budget announcement on this Saturday, global rating agency Standard & Poor's Ratings Services has revised India-s GDP growth projection upwards at 7.9% for the fiscal year 2015-16 due to improved investment and low crude oil prices.

At the same time, S&P has lowered its GDP growth forecasts for China, Japan, and the other Asian economies, as per its report titled 'Stronger US economy and lower oil prices aren't boosting Asia-Pacific growth'.
