1. The Supreme Court has rejected Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy's petition asking for investigation into Finance Minister P Chidambaram-s role in the 2G spectrum case. The court gave clean chit to P Chidambaram and refused to make him an accused in the case. The Supreme Court has already scrapped the 2G spectrum licenses issued by former Telecom Minister A. Raja and convicted him in the scam.


2. Congress leader Vayalar Ravi has been appointed as the new Union Minister for Science and Technology which was previously held by late Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.


3. Veteran Bollywood actor AK Hangal passed away at the age of 98. He was mainly known for his character roles in movies Namak Haram, Sholay and Shaukeen.


4. India-s Under-19 Cricket team won the World cup today for the third time after defeating Australia in the final match. Unmukt Chand made an unbeaten innings of 111 runs to lead the run chase and 6 wicket victory at the end. Previously India won the U-19 World cup in 2000 and 2008 as well under Mohammad Kaif and Virat Kohli respectively.
