1. Indian-American Surgeon Vivek Murthy was sworn-in as the US Surgeon General by Vice President Joe Biden at a ceremony. With this, he has become the youngest-ever in-charge of the country's public health at the age of 37 only. He is now the highest ranking Indian-American in the US President Barack Obama Administration. He succeeded Boris D. Lushniak who had served as Surgeon General till December 2014.


2. Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor was awarded with the prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2015. He was presented the award by famous historian and writer Babasaheb Purandare. Famous Marathi actor Dilip Prabhavalkar was also awarded with the prestigious Master Deenanath Mangeshkar Award 2015. Master Dinanath Mangeshkar Award was instituted in 1999 in memory of Dinanath Mangeshkar, father of Lata Mangeshkar.
