1. Famous scientist K N Vyas has been appointed as the Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) for a period of 3 years. He succeeds Shekar Basu.

2. Ashwini Nangia from the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been appointed as the Director of the CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. He has contributed to the new field of cocrystals and its applications to the pharmaceutical industry. He has over 200 research papers to his credit including several reviews.

3. Justice Vineet Saran has been has appointed as the new Chief Justice (CJ) of Orissa High Court. He succeeds Justice D H Waghela who was transferred earlier as Chief Justice of Bombay High Court. Before that Justice Pradeep K. Mohanty was working as Acting CJ of Orissa High Court.

4. Justice Dinesh Maheshwari has been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court. He succeeds Justice Uma Nath Singh who retired as Chief Justice this month.

5. An Indian-origin art lover and playwright Ismail Mahomed from South Africa was honored by the French government for his lifelong devotion to the promotion of arts.  He was awarded with the Knight of the Order of Arts and Literature (The Chevalier de l-Ordre des Arts et Lettres) by French Ambassador Elisabet Barbier in Johannesburg. Currently he is working as the Artistic Director of the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
