1. Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party in Jharkhand after announcement of assembly vote held in the state earlier this month. BJP won 42 seats out of total 81 seats in the state and all set to form new government.

People's Democratic Party (PDP) emerged as the largest party in Jammu and Kashmir s per assembly election result announced today while BJP secured second largest number of seats. PDP won 28 seats while BJP won 25 seats out of overall 87 seats. As of now it is a hung assembly in Jammu & Kashmir and it is not yet finalized who will form government.

2. The committee headed by the famous economist Vijay Kelkar has recommended autonomous status for Vidarbha region saying that the region's population feels neglected. It has also recommended to shift the state secretariat to Nagpur for the month of December every year. Finance and Planning Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar today tabled the committee's report in the Legislative Assembly

The committee was earlier appointed to study the issue of balanced development of various regions of Maharashtra.

3. The 13th edition of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divaswill be held in Gujarat from January 7-9 next year. Pravasi Bharatiya Divaswill is an event which celebrates the achievements of Indians living outside India. Gujarat has been chosen as the partner State as year 2015 will also be observed as the 100th year of Mahatma Gandhi-s return to India from South Africa.
