1. India has been ranked at 133rd position among 180 countries in the latest annual 2016 'World Press Freedom Index' released by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) today which says Prime Minister Narendra Modi seems "indifferent" to the threats against journalists. The list is topped by Finland for the sixth consecutive year, followed by the Netherlands and Norway. India jumped three spots from the 136th position it had in 2015.

Ranking of India's neighboring countries are: China (176), Pakistan (147), Sri Lanka (141), Afghanistan (120), Bangladesh (144), Nepal (105) and Bhutan (94).

2. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Rahul Johri as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effective from 1st June 2016. Before this appointment, he was serving as Asia Pacific's Executive Vice-President and General Manager for South Asia of Discovery Networks. The creation of the post of the CEO was a change recommended by the three-member Lodha panel in its report in January this year. The panel had stressed the need for the BCCI to separate its governance and management duties, which requires a CEO like role for management activities.

3. German luxury car maker BMW has appointed Frank Schloeder as acting President of BMW Group India. He will succeed the outgoing president Philipp von Sahr who will head BMW Niederlassung in Berlin, Germany.
