1. Bangladesh honored former Indian Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee for his outstanding support for its independence from Pakistan in 1971 when he was a Lok Sabha member. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has also approved a proposal to honor the families of the members of Indian armed forces for sacrificing their lives for the cause of Bangladesh-s independence.


2. Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa was sworn-in as the 19th Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. He succeeded former Governor Lt General (Retired) Nirbhay Sharma who was transferred to Mizoram.


3. Famous Scientist K. Sivan has been appointed as the 12th Director of the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC). He succeeds M.S. Dathan who has retired from service. He joined ISRO in 1982 in the PSLV project and has contributed towards mission planning, design, integration, and analysis.


4. India-s eight core sector industries contracted by 0.4% in April due to poor performance of most sectors compared to 0.1% contraction in the previous month. Core sector growth stood at 5.7% in April last year.


The output of crude oil fell 2.7%, natural gas output dropped 3.6%, electricity generation dropped 1.1%, cement production dropped 2.4% and refinery products output dropped 2.9% in the same month. Cumulative core sector growth during the entire 2014-15 fiscal year slowed to 3.5% from 4.2% in the previous fiscal year.


5. Indian iconic players Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and V V S Laxman have joined newly-constituted advisory panel of the BCCI to guide the Board in all matters related to Cricket. They came up with huge experience and definitely going to contribute a lot to improve the game.


6. Former Indian team captain Ravi Shastri was retained as director of the Indian cricket team for the tour of Bangladesh starting to be held in June. B. Arun, assistant coach of bowling and R. Sridhar, assistant coach of fielding, are also expected to assist him during the tour.
