1. The Ministry of Finance has announced the much-awaited capital infusion of Rs 22,915 crore towards the recapitalization of 13 public sector banks during financial year 2016-17. The largest amount of Rs 7,575 crore will be given to India-ss largest lender, the State Bank of India.


2. Indian FMCG major Dabur has acquired South Africa-based Discaria Trading (PTY) Ltd for an undisclosed amount. Dabur International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dabur has completely acquired (100% share) Discaria Trading in South Africa. The South Africa based firm is engaged in manufacturing and trading of cosmetics. 


3. Guruprasad Mohapatra, a 1986 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, has been appointed the chairman of Airports Authority of India (AAI).Before this, he was posted as Joint Secretary in Union Ministry of Commerce and had served as Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad for over three years.


4. Former Indian cricketer and Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu has resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat on the first day of the Monsoon Session. He is expected to Join AAP before Punjab Assembly Election.


5. Famous ghazal singer Mubarak Begum passed away. She was 80. She lent voice to scores of Bollywood ghazals and duets in both Hindi and Urdu.
