Current Affairs India - 18 February 2016

1. The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal to notify the Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in order to project India as a business friendly destination. The cabinet has also approved to set up a National Committee on Trade Facilitation which will be chaired jointly by the Commerce and Revenue Secretaries.

2. The Union Cabinet has recommended revocation of President-s Rule in Arunachal Pradesh after the Supreme Court refused to restrain the Governor from swearing in a new government in the state Earlier Union Cabinet and President of India approved President Rule in January.

3. Senior IRS officer Jayant Misra has been appointed as Director General of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). Currently he is working as DG (Systems) at the Directorate General of Systems and Data Management. He will succeed Najib Shah, who is currently holding the charge of DG DRI. 

4. IPS Officer Alok Kumar Verma has been appointed as new Police Commissioner of Delhi Police. He will succeed current Commissioner BS Bassi on 1st March 2016 after his retirement on 29th February 2016. The cabinet Committee on Appointments (CCA) has confirmed his appointment.
