1. India-s renewable energy sector has been ranked at 3rd position in the Renewable Energy Country Attractiveness Index (RECAI) published by global consulting firm Ernst & Young (EY) this week. The index ranks 40 markets on the attractiveness of their renewable energy investment and deployment opportunities, based on a number of macro, energy market and technology-specific indicators. USA topped the list followed by China in the second place.


2. India and Bangladesh have signed a nuclear agreement with the focus areas of energy, connectivity, security. As a part of the deal, India will help Bangladesh to import their first nuclear power plant from Russia. Earlier in March 2016, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart, Sheikh Hasina inaugurated a 100 mw power transmission line from Palatana to Bangladesh. India is currently working on upgrading this power transmission line to 500 mw.


3. Justice Tinlianthang Vaiphei of Gauhati High Court was sworn as the Chief Justice of Tripura High Court. He will succeed Justice Deepak Gupta, who has been transferred as the Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court.


4. A three-member Indian women's archery team including Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi and Laxmirani Majhi has been named for the Rio Olympics after a series of selection trials in the last three months. They will compete in the individual events as well as team event at the Rio Games in August this year. The Archery Association of India also announced a three-member men's team consisting Jayanta Talukdar, Atanu Das, Mangal Singh Champia for the third stage World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, next month in order to have a shot at Olympic berths.
