1. Four Indian peacekeepers - Head Constable Shubhkaran Yadav, Rifleman Manish Malik, Havildar Amal Deka, Naik Rakesh Kumar and Gagan Punjabi will be honoured with the Dag Hammarskjold Medal on the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers which is on 19th May by United Nations. They all have died while serving on peacekeeping missions last year. They will be honoured along with other 124 military, police, and civilian personnel with a prestigious U.N. medal awarded posthumously for their courage and sacrifice.

2. India-s overall inflation, measured by the wholesale price index increased to 0.34% in April compared to (-) 0.85% in the previous month of March due to increase in food prices. With this, Overall Inflation ends 18th months of consecutive decline and turned positive.

Food inflation Jumped to 4.23% in April due to 2.21% rise in vegetables process and 36.36% jump in prices of pulses. Wholesale inflation in manufactured products stood at 0.71% in the same month. With this increase in overall inflation, RBI may not cut rates during its next policy review meeting scheduled to be held in June.

3. Indian boxing star Vijender Singh won his sixth successive knockout victory by out-punching Andrzej Soldra of Poland in a Super Middleweight contest held at Boltan in UK last week. He will now contest for the World Boxing Organisation's (WBO) Asia title to be held in New Delhi on 11th June this year.

4. India's oldest Test cricketer Deepak Shodhan passed away recently. He was 87. He had a long domestic career, playing for Gujarat and Baroda in the Ranji Trophy including title win in 1957-58.
