1. The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) has launched the India Nuclear Insurance Pool (INIP) this week. The INIP has become the 27th such insurance pool in the world after countries including USA, France, Russia and South Africa etc, have already launched such similar risk transfer mechanisms.

The INIP pool was launched to cover the risks of liability of nuclear operators and suppliers under Section 6(2) and Section 17 of the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damages (CLND) Act, 2010 respectively.

2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a book named as-Education of Muslims: An Islamic Perspective of Knowledge and Education - Indian Context- edited by Professor JS Rajput today. The book contains details about role of Islam in pursuit of education and knowledge.

3. India-s exports dropped by 20.19% in May 2015 to USD 22.34 billion which is the sixth continuous month of fall. At the same time, total Imports dropped by 16.52% to USD 32.75 billion in the same month due to steep drop in petroleum imports. Trade deficit narrowed to USD 10.4 billion in the same month.

Cumulative Exports for April-May of financial year 2015-16 stood at USD 44.40 billion which was 17.21% lower than that of the same period of the previous fiscal. Total Imports for the same period stood at USD 65.80 billion, 12.12% lower.

4. Indian Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand lost to world champion Magnus Carlsen from a winning position to finish fifth in the blitz event. Anand started with two wins but missed out on a winning opportunity against Carlsen and finally ended fifth with 5.5 points out of a possible 9 points.

5. Indian striker Sunil Chhetri became the first Indian footballer to score 50 international goals in 87 matches after scoring a goal against World Cup qualifying match against Guam today. Though India lost the match by 2-1. Former Indian football team captain Bhaichung Bhutia is at the second spot with 42 goals in 107 matches while IM Vijayan has 40 goals from 79 matches.
