1. India and the United Kingdom have announced deals worth 9 billion pounds as they signed a civil nuclear pact and decided to increase collaboration in the field of defence and cyber security during first visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in UK this week.

Also UK announced 2017 as the UK-India Year of Culture to mark the 70th Anniversary of Indian Independence. On this Occasion, UK Institute will partner with Indian Institutes for the program and the British Library will digitize 2,00,000 pages from its South Asian Archives.

2. First Elephant hospital in Northeast India was established at Kaziranga National Park in Assam. The hospital was set up at Mark Shand MemorialLearning Centre in Kaziranga National Park and it was inaugurated by Sir Evelyn de Rothschildwho is founding member of the UK-based charity Elephant Family.
