1. The Supreme Court-appointed Justice R.M. Lodha Committee has given its long pending judgment related to IPL spot fixing scam. The Apex Court has suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) from the League for two years and also imposed sanctions on Gurunath Meiyappan, and Raj Kundra for their alleged involvement in the IPL spot fixing scam.

Earlier the Lodha committee was formed by the Supreme Court in its judgment in the IPL betting case. This judgment confirmed the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Mukul Mudgal committee's findings and held Meiyappan and Kundra guilty of betting.

2. Lieutenant General Man Mohan Singh Rai was appointed as the Vice-Chief of the Indian Army. He will succeed Lt Gen Philip Campose, who will superannuate the office on 31st July 2015. Currently he is working as the Eastern Army Commander.

3. Famous artist Sayed Haider Raza was conferred with highest French Civilian Award Commandeur de la Lgion dHonneur (the Legion of Honour) for his efforts in improving ties between France and India and for continuing artistic quest straddling nations, religions, cultures and philosophies. La Lgion dHonneur (the Legion of Honour) is the highest civilian award given by the French Government.

4. India-s Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows has increased by 48% during October 2014 to April 2015 as compared to the corresponding period last year due to launch of -Make in India- initiatives in September last year by the Narendra Modi Government.India-s FDI inflow jumped by 717% to USD 40.92 billion in financial year 2014-15.

5. Legendary music director and composer MS Viswanathan passed away this morning following illness. He was 88 and he had scored music for over 1,000 films.
