2. Retail inflation eased to a five-month low of 5.05% in August 2016 due to sharp fall in food inflation compared to 6.07% in previous month July.

3. Industrial production measured by IIP contracted 2.4% in July this year, worst performance in eight months, due to a fall in output of the manufacturing and capital goods sectors.

4. India-s Deepa Malik made history after becoming the first Indian woman to win a medal at the Paralympics. Her throw of 4.61m won her a silver in the shot put F-53 event.
