1. India and Sri Lanka have signed four agreements today during Narendra Modi-s maiden visit to the country. This is the first visit of an Indian Prime Minister in last 28 years. Prime Minister Modi met Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and discussed different bilateral issues between two neighbor nations.


Both the countries have signed four agreements on visa, customs, youth development and building Rabindranath Tagore memorial in Sri Lanka. India-s central bank Reserve Bank of India has agreed for a USD 1.5 billion currency swap agreement with the Sri Lankan central bank in order to help the Sri Lankan currency stable. It has lost almost three per cent value in comparison to the Indian rupee so far in 2015.


2. International Monetary Fund had increased India-s GDP growth forecast to 7.2% for the current financial year. Last year, IMF had forecasted a growth rate of 5.6% for the current financial year, and 6.4% for the next financial year. The new forecasts have considered a revised methodology adopted by India earlier this year for calculating the GDP data.


3. Famous Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal jumped to second place in the latest Badminton World Federation (BWF) women's singles rankings after her silver medal at the recently held All England Badminton Championship. She is now only behind No 1 badminton player Li Xuerui of China.Another Indian shuttler PV Sindhu remained static at 9th rank, in the top-10 list.


In the men's singles category, Kidambi Srikanth of India also jumped by one place to be at No. 4. China-s Chen Long leads the ranking followed by Denmark-s Jan O Jorgensen and China-s Lin Dan.


4. Karnataka defeated Tamil Nadu by an innings and 217 runs at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai to retain the Ranji Trophy. This is also Karnataka-s eighth Ranji Trophy title. The team is won the trophy last year and now undefeated in the last 28 matches.
