1. A.S. Kiran Kumar has been appointed as the new head of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). He joined ISRO in 1975 and was also behind the success of India's Mars Orbiter Mission which entered the Martian orbit on 24th September last year.


He succeeds K. Radhakrishnan who retired in December last year after serving as chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) between 2009 and 2014.


2. India's Mars Orbiter programme team in ISRO won the 2015 Space Pioneer Award in the science and engineering category from the US based National Space Society (NSS), as per announcement made by the society. This award will be presented to an ISRO representative during the National Space Society-s 2015 International Space Development Conference to be held in Toronto, Canada.


India-s Mars Orbiter launched on 5th November, 2013 that went into Mars orbit on 24th September 2014 successfully. With this, India has become the first country to achieve this feat on its first try.


3. RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan has been named as the -governor of the year- in the Central Banking Awards for 2015 by a British magazine today for -his deep understanding of the root causes of economic problems of the country combined with an impressive leadership style.- This is the second award by the London-based magazine and will be presented in London in March.


Raghuram Rajan is well-known economist and an author. Before joining RBI, Rajan was the chief economist of IMF. He had earlier successfully predicted the global financial crisis which shocked the world in 2008-2009.


4. India-s Online Restaurant portal Zomato has announced that it has acquired UrbanSpoon, which is a dominant player in the US, Canada and Australia for specialized restaurant content. This acquisition will help Zomato to enter in the US, Australia and Canada region. Urbanspoon also has a significant presence in Ireland, UK and New Zealand.


5. Corporation Bank won the -MSME Banking Excellence Awards 2014- given by the Chamber of Indian Micro Small & Medium Enterprises. The bank has bagged two awards under the categories -Best MSME Bank Award for Other Bank (Winner)- and -Best Bank Award (Runner Up)-.


Chairman and Managing Director SR Bansal received the award from Kalraj Mishra, Union Minster for Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises.
