1. The United Nation's Security Council (UNSC) three permanent members US, China and Russia have opposed negotiations to reform the UN Body which included India's bid for a permanent seat in the powerful UN body.India has received support from the other two permanent members of the body, France and UK. Apart from India, it was proposed in the negotiating text that Brazil, Germany, India, Japan and an African representation also be included among the permanent members of a reformed UNSC.


2. Union Railway Ministry has signed four Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with Union Power and New & Renewable Energy Ministry for energy conservation, transmission and solarisation in order to improve cooperation between both parties in different areas from electricity transmission to promotion of renewable energy and energy conservation in a time bound manner.


3. The Union Cabinet has approved the spectrum sharing guidelines based on the recommendations of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) in order to improve spectral efficiency and quality of telecom service across the country. Spectrum sharing will be allowed only for the access service providers in the first instance in a Licensed Service Area (LSA).


4. Jethabhai Patelwas elected as the Chairman of Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). Before that Patel was the Chairman of Sabarkantha District CooperativeMilk Producers Union Limited from 2010. He succeeded Vipul Chaudhary. Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) is the Asia-s largest milk cooperative and apex marketing body comprising 17 dairy unions of Gujarat.


5. Global beverage maker Coca-Cola India has roped in former Indian Cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly as its social ambassador for a three-year deal ending in 2017. He replaced Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar whose contract ended last year.


Besides the cricket association, Ganguly will lead Coca-Cola's football programmes and run various grassroots football activities. Ganguly has also volunteered to be a part of the Coca-Cola Support My School movement - a programme that promotes the cause of healthy schools.


6. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan has accepted the proposal of Maharashtra Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, to be the tiger ambassador of the state. He will promote eco-tourism, especially tiger tourism in Maharashtra of the state as its tiger ambassador.


7. Industrialist OP Munjal, Chairman Emeritus of Hero Cycles and one of the founders of the Hero Group, passed away today after brief illness. He was 87. Due to health issues, he had retired from active role in the business last month and his son Pankaj Munjal succeeded him as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Hero Motors group.


Munjal along with his three brothers Brijmohan Lall Munjal, Dayanand Munjal and Satyanand Munjal started bicycle spare parts business in Amritsar in 1944. The named the company -Hero- and set up India-s first bicycle manufacturing unit in 1956.
