1. British Actress Emma Watson, popularly known for her role as Hermione in Harry Potter movie series, has been appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for UN Women. Post her appointment, she will work for empowerment of young women and also as an advocate for UN Women-s campaign in promoting gender equality.

She was named after taking some humanitarian work for girls' education in countries like Bangladesh and Zambia.

2. Germany striker Miroslav Klose became the World Cup's all-time record scorer with his 16th goal during their semifinal match against Brazil yesterday. Klose broke Brazilian striker Ronaldo-s record of 15 goals in World Cup matches.

Germany smashed Brazil by 7-1 in the first semifinal match to reach final of the 2014 FIFA world Cup. This is also Brazil-s worst defeat in the history of world cup. Argentina will face Netherlands in the second semifinal match today.
