1. Russian President Vladimir Putin has been ranked at No 1 place as per the Forbes's list of 100 most powerful people in the world published today. US President Barack Obama was pushed to No 1 position while China's Xi Jinping and Pope Francis secured No 3 and No 4 positions respectively in the same list.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was placed at 15th spot followed by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani at 36th place and Lakshmi Mittal at the 57th place.

Only 7 women are included in the top 100 with Angela Merkel led the list at 5th place followed by Dilma Rousseff, Christine Lagarde and Virginia Rometty.

2. The European Central Bank (ECB) has kept its benchmark interest rate unchanged at record low of 0.05% during its recent monetary policy announcement. Also the ECB President Mario Draghi said that it would provide further stimulus to the struggling euro zone when required.

3. The ICC selection panel chaired by the ICC's Cricket Committee chairman has selected its Test and ODI Teams of the Year. Sri Lanka team captain Angelo Mathews, has been named as captain of the ICC Test Team of the Year 2014.

Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was named as the captain of ICC ODI Team of the Year 2014. He has been selected in the ICC ODI team of the year for the eight time (seventh year in a row), while fifth year as a captain of the team.
