1. World cancer day was observed yesterday (4th February) to raise awareness about this illness as well as to promote the measures, early detection ways, prevention and treatment of the disease. The theme for World Cancer Day, 2013 was -Cancer - Did you know?-  The theme focused on dispersing the myths and misconceptions associated with the disease among all the people. Tobacco use is considered the major cause for cancer, causing 22% of global cancer deaths and 71% of global lung cancer deaths.

2. ICC has released its latest rankings for test cricket yesterday in Dubai. South Africa emerged as the world number one team among the test playing countries and is followed by England, Australia, Pakistan and India in that order. South African batsman Hashim Amla secured no 1 rank in the batsman category followed by Australian Captain Michael Clarke. Dale South African bowler, Steyn, secured no 1 rank among bowlers followed by his teammate, Vernan Philander.

3. Australian captain, Michael Clarke won the fourth Allan Border Medal, prestigious award given away in the Australian cricket, in Melbourne yesterday. Earlier he won the same medal in 2005, 2009 and 2012 also. Apart from Clarke, only former Captain Ricky Ponting won this Allan Border award four times.
