1. The International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh has sentenced the Jamaat -e-Islami Chief Motiur Rahman Nizami to death penalty for crimes against humanity during 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War.He was the leader of the Students' Wing of the Jamaat -e-Islami during the Liberation War, and headed the infamous Al-Badr militia.

2. Zambian President Michael Sata, also known as 'King Cobra' because of his venomous tongue, passed away in London where he had been receiving medical treatment. He was 77. He became president of Zambiain 2011.
