1. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected as the President of BRICS nations in a close competition. With 99% of the vote counted, Rousseff was managed to secure majority 51.5% of the votes compared to her opponent Aecio Neves who received 48.5% votes.


Her party, Workers' Party has held the Presidency since 2003 and it will be again extended for another 5 years.


2. Google CEO Larry Page has appointed Indian-born Sundar Pichai as head of all Google products business as part of a big management re-structure process. The story comes from unnamed sources and Google has yet to issue an official press release regarding the same.


Sundar Pichai will now be head of Google Plus, search, maps, research, commerce and ad products as well as infrastructure. YouTube will remain under Susan Wojcicki, CEO of the YouTube.


3. Serena Williams won her fifth WTA Finals title after defeating Simona Halep of Romania by 6-3, 6-0 in Singapore Open today. With this win, she became the first player to win the season finale three times in a row since Monica Seles achieved the same feat in 1992. She will also end the current year at No 1 position in the WTA ranking.


4. South African football team captain and goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was killed when he was shot by burglars who broke into the house. He was killed when he tried to save his girlfriend from the intruders at her house in in Vosloorus, south of Johannesburg.
