1. World Tuberculosis Day is observed today (24th March) across the world to create awareness on the global epidemic and on efforts to eliminate the disease. The theme this year is "Reach the 3 Million: Reach, Treat, Cure Everyone". The day is used as an opportunity to educate the general public about the prevention and treatment of Tuberculosis which is a major health problem which afflicts mainly the young and working population of India.


2. New Zealand defeated South Africa by 4 wickets today in a closely fought semifinal match to enter into the final of ICC Cricket World Cup. This is the first time, New Zealand entered into the final of Cricket World Cup. The second semi-final will be played between defending champions India and Australia on Thursday at Sydney.
