1. Three nations from European Union (EU) France, Germany and Italy have also followed United Kingdom and agreed to join the China-backed Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). With these new member countries, the number of the bank-s member countries will increase to more than 30.

AIIB is an international financial institution proposed by China which seeks to provide support to infrastructure projects in Asia. Its head quarter will be located in Beijing and will become operational by the end 2015.

2. World Water Day (WWD) 2015 was observed on 22nd March across the world in order to raise importance of Water. The theme of this year was -Water and Sustainable Development- which indicates how water links to all areas we need to consider creating the future we want.

3. World Sparrow day was observed on 20th March across the world in order to raise awareness about importance of Sparrow. The theme for this year-s World Sparrow day was "I Love Sparrows".

The first Sparrow day was observed in March 20, 2010. The day is observed to create awareness about the decline of sparrow bird and in spreading the awareness on the need of conserving common biodiversity or species.

4. International Day of Forests was observed on 21st March 2015 across the world. The theme for this year was "Forests and Climate Change."The theme highlights forest-based solutions to address climate change mitigation and adaptation, and more broadly forests and sustainable development.

5. Nobel Laureate Sir Venkatraman Ramakrishnan has been confirmed as President Elect of the Royal Society and his appointment was confirmed by the society-s council meet and will assume the charge on 1st December 2015.He will succeed eminent geneticist Sir Paul Nurse who had taken on the role in 2010 and will step down after the customary 5-year term.

6. Singapore's first prime minister, Lee Kuan Yew passed away on 23rd March. He was 91. He was the key architect for Singapore-s development from a small state to a global trade and financial centre.

U.S. President Barack Obama described Lee, who ruled Singapore for three decades, as "a true giant of history" whose advice on governance and economic development had been sought by other world leaders down the years.

7. Australia defeated Pakistan by 6 wickets in the third quarter-final of the ICC cricket World Cup on 20th March in Adelaide. After this win, Australia will now face defending champion India in the second semifinal match. South Africa and New Zealand will face in the first semifinal match.

Pakistani cricketers, Misbah-ul-Haq and Shaid Afridi have announced their retirement from the One Day International (ODI) format of cricket after Pakistan-s loss to Australia in the quarter final match. Misbah will continue to play in Test matches while Afridi will continue to play in T20 matches.
