1. A Smiling Armadillo is announced as the official mascot for the 2014 FIFA World Cup scheduled to be held in Brazil in 2014. The armadillo is an animal with a leathery armor shell which helps them to roll like a ball.


2. Brazil has cut its economic growth forecast for the current year to 2% compared to earlier projection of 3%. This is the lowest GDP growth since 2009 and much lower compared to 2010 GDP growth of 7.5%.


3. Inflation in 27-nation European Union stood at 2.7% in August compared to 2.5% in the previous month of July. At the same time Inflation in the 17-nation euro zone stood at 2.6% in August compared to 2.4% in July. Recent QE3 by Fed is expected to drive the global commodity prices higher and push the inflation in the regions.
