1. German Nobel laureate Guenter Grass passed away in Berlin today. He was 87. Grass authored the book "The Tin Drum," which was published in 1959 for which he was honored with the Nobel Prize for literature in 1999.

Grass helped to revive German culture in the aftermath of World War II and helping to give voice and support to democratic discourse in the post war nation.

2. New Zealand won the Sultan Azlan Shah Cup men-s hockey tournament 2015 after defeating World Champions Australia in the finals at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium in Ipoh, Malaysia. With this New Zealand won the Sultan Azlan Shah for the second time after 2012. India won Bronze medal after securing third position in the trophy.
