1. International Olympic Committee has surprisingly dropped wrestling from the 2020 Games as the IOC executive board decided today to retain modern pentathlon - the event considered most at risk - and remove wrestling instead from its list of core sports. Wrestling is considered to be one of the oldest sports on the Olympic programme. This will allow IOC to add a new sport in the vacant slot of Olympic Programme. IOC reviews the Olympic sports events on regular basis and does the changes like Baseball and softball were dropped after Athens Olympic 2008 and ruby sevens and golf will be added for Rio de Janeiro Olympic 2016.


2. North Korea has conducted its third and most powerful underground nuclear test today amid huge criticism and protest by the United Nations Security Council and its only ally and neighbor China. This successful nuclear test will make it a step closer to fitting a nuclear warhead onto a ballistic missile. North Korea had earlier conducted two nuclear tests in 2006 and 2009 and since then it is the most economically sanctioned country in the world.


3. UK-s inflation, measured by the consumer price index, remained unchanged at 2.7% for the fourth consecutive month in January, as per the Office for National Statistics (ONS). At the same time, the rate of Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation jumps to 3.3% in January compared to 3.1% in December.
